What the record asserts, what it deliberately does not, and how a third party validates it.
Why a standard, not a product
Standards win when incentives align. Creators gain standing. Distributors reduce friction. Platforms reduce risk. Rights organisations gain clarity. A record that only one company can read is not a standard.
The claim set
A Proof of Creation record asserts a bounded set of things and no more.
| It asserts | It does not assert |
|---|---|
| A verified human was present | Who that human is, by name |
| Creation occurred at a recorded time | That the work is original |
| Jurisdiction-level context | A precise location |
| AI assistance was disclosed as stated | The extent of that assistance was audited |
| Evidence is bound to this specific work | Copyright or master ownership |
| The record has not been altered | Royalty entitlement or licensing permission |
Integration
SignalVibe integrates with Absolute ID through a licensed API to obtain verified WHO, WHERE, WHEN and HOW evidence. SignalVibe uses that evidence to construct a music-specific Proof of Creation record.
Global Accountability Corp and SignalVibe, Inc. are separate companies. SignalVibe licenses Absolute ID technology; it does not own or provide it.
Validation
A third party checks a record by API against the registry. A passing check confirms the record is intact and was issued as described. A failing check means the record cannot be relied upon — it does not, by itself, mean the work is fraudulent. Unverified work is simply work without a record.
Where it sits
Most provenance and transparency work operates at distribution time, and most fingerprinting operates after release. This standard operates at creation time. Those are complementary positions, and SignalVibe treats them that way.
Limits
A Proof of Creation record evidences the circumstances of creation. It is not a determination of copyright ownership, legal authorship, publishing or master ownership, royalty entitlement, licensing permission, the absence of third-party material, or the absence of contractual restrictions. It preserves evidence relevant to those determinations; it does not make them.
- It cannot establish that a work is free of third-party material.
- It cannot resolve a contractual restriction it was never shown.
- It cannot retroactively evidence work created outside the loop.
- It cannot substitute for registration with a rights organisation.
Publishing this list is deliberate. A standard that claims no limits is not a standard.
